The Anaesthesiology and Surgical Intensive Care Clinic's services include the provision of anaesthesia for surgical and diagnostic procedures, care of critically ill patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and therapy for acute and chronic pain disorders.
In addition to providing anaesthesia for all types of surgical and non-surgical procedures (i.e. general anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia, special techniques such as high-frequency jet ventilation, regional anaesthesia) the Clinic's remit also extends to management of the 16-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit and the 22-bed post-operative recovery room.
Our anaesthesia and pain management services are available to patients across all of Ludwigshafen Hospital's specialist departments. These are managed via a central pain management team, which ensures that all inpatients requiring treatment for acute or chronic pain can benefit from our comprehensive range of services 24 hours a day.
