We offer treatment for patients with acquired heart defects, particularly those associated with coronary heart disease and heart valve disease. Treatments offered involve both conventional open heart surgery and minimally invasive techniques (keyhole surgery).
We also offer arrhythmia surgery for patients with atrial and ventricular arrhythmia, as well as surgical therapies for chronic heart failure, including special pace makers or implantable cardiac defibrillators.
Ludwigshafen Hospital's Cardiac Surgery Clinic was one of the first cardiac surgery centres in Germany to introduce minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Removal of leg veins from the upper or lower leg, or radial artery removal from the arm prior to bypass surgery is carried out using minimally invasive techniques.
Ludwigshafen Hospital's Cardiac Surgery Clinic is one of a small number of training centres for endoscopic vein and artery removal in Europe.
