Medicine

Medical Clinic A

As one of three clinics of internal medicine of the medical center, we are specialized in treating patients with following diseases:

Hematopoietic disorders and neoplasias, malignant tumors, bleeding disorders and thrombophilia

Our patients are treated as in-house patients, day-care patients, and on referral from internists, urologists, and gynecologists also as outpatients. Our interdisciplinary hemato-oncological day-care clinic disposes of 10 treatment units.
A psychooncology service is readily availabe for all patients with malignant diseases.

The interdisciplinary oncology board is an essential part of the Medical Oncology Center Ludwigshafen (www.ozlu.de) and is chaired by the Medical Clinic A. In weekly sessions patients with a variety of different malignant neoplasias are referred to the interdisciplinary oncology board in order to discuss specific diagnostic and/or treatment options for individual patients with respect to the national and international treatment recommendations.

The Medical Clinic A with the main focus on Hemato-/Oncology is part of the Breast Center Ludwigshafen and takes part in the weekly sessions of the senological tumor board.

Hypertension and kidney disorders (including hemodialysis)

The Medical Clinic A is one of the main centers of nephrology in Rhineland-Palatinate. Patients with kidney disorders as well as hypertension are diagnosed and treated accordingly. All dialysis procedures are offered. We have 22 dialysis places for in-house patients of the clinical center with deterioration of renal function. As a service for ambulant patients with renal insufficiency from the surrounding city districts dialysis can be performed on an outclinic treatment setting.

Rheumatology and inflammatory diseases

We are one of only few clinics in Rhineland-Palatinate with the focus on rheumatology and autoimmune diseases. Patients are diagnosed and treated according to the newest medical recommendation. In cooperation with Institute of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine patients with rheumatology disorders receive an individual and well balanced physical treatment.

General internal medicine and endocrinology

The Medical Clinic A also represents all aspects of the general internal medicine, including endocrine problems and ambiguous or obscure syndroms.

HIV-infections

HIV-infected patients are treated by a highly specialized medical team during all phases of the disease, either as out-patients or in-house patients.

Furthermore additional clinical/medical services and socio-psychological support are available.
