Medicine

Central Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

The imaging department provides all clinical specialties with comprehensive diagnostic and interventional services.

Diagnostic facilities include plain x-rays and state-of-the-art cross-sectional techniques such as computerised tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Both CT and MRI give detailed insights into the human body and disease. Special applications are virtual colonography, MR mammography, cardiac MRI and CT and MR angiography.

Interventional radiology performs a wide range of procedures in vascular and non-vascular medicine non-invasively, i.e. without general anesthesia and even on an outpatient basis. Besides all catheter based angioplastic procedures in the vascular system including endoluminal aortic or carotid stent grafts, regional fibrinolytic therapy, embolization procedures or retrieval of foreign bodies and also regional tumor therapies with RFA or chemoembolization are possible.
