As an academic teaching hospital of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the clinical centre of the city of Ludwigshafen has outstanding competencies in research and teaching. The clinical centre Ludwigshafen educates a maximum of 35 students per practical year. Besides the compulsory subjects of Surgery and Internal Medicine, a total of 8 elective studies are offered. These are Neurology, Dermatology, Anaesthesiology, Gynaecology, Urology, Otorhinolaryngology and Ophthalmology.
Furthermore, the following courses are offered:
ECG course, Lung function course, Sonography course, Intensive medicine ward rounds, Blood serological practical training, Plant tours by the company BASF, guided tours through the burn station of the Employer's Liability Insurance Association’s emergency hospital Ludwigshafen.
